Dear Mrs. Readalot,
Thank you for visiting this page, designed to give you a sample of some of the projects I have worked on in the past. Images of and links to projects discussed in the brochure I sent you can be found on this page.
As you read in my brochure, I frequently use video or websites to provide instruction to students in grades K-8 as well as parents in the Colleton County School District. I have also had the opportunity to provide training for the district's parent volunteers. For samples of video content, please visit: http://youtube.com/ccsdtitle1 or http://parents.ccsdtitle1.org/motivating-children.html or view the video assessment game below. You may also review a text based video slide show I created to share the goals of the Parent Involvement Program with stakeholders found to the right of this page. As your request for proposals notes, there are many choices for web 2.0 applications or blends of tools that allow for the creation of excellent educational products, this page highlights my use of wikis, YouTube, slideshows, and online courses, and I look forward to adding to my skill set by using Bookbuilder. Bookbuilder is an excellent resource that allows designers to apply Universal Design principles to a wide variety of topics and I am confident that I will be able to use this program and create instruction for a broad audience. My educational and technological training has broadened my skill set, but nothing will quench my desire to learn new programs and to apply the best instructional design methodologies and techniques to improving the quality of instruction for all learners. I look forward to working with you and hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Shelby Elise [email protected] Using Games as Assessments:
I created this video game show as an assessment for a STEM unit on ecosystems at Whale Branch Middle School. The video features Mr. S. Burvenich, my coaching teacher, and content based on 5th grade math and science standards. The "game show" is a choose-your-own adventure-type assessment.
